About

Our History

Stockton Black Family Day is dedicated to promoting our Community Principles: Faith, Education, Health, Respect and Unity, while celebrating African American culture and its rich traditions through music, art, ethnic food and, most importantly, family.

Stockton Black Family Day, Inc. Pledge

I promise to never forget the struggle led by the San Joaquin Delta College Black Student Union. Their demand, in 1969, for the right and opportunity to attend the prestigious, baccalaureate University of the Pacific, resulted in the creation of the Community Involvement Program which continues to this day.
Stockton Black Family Day evolved from the victory celebration of those BSU students and their families.

Our Mission

Today, Our Mission is to preserve, promote, foster and celebrate African American history, cultural values and family traditions.
